Why rates differ by city
Rates vary due to local state taxes (octroi), transport costs, and IBJA regional pricing. Chennai and Kochi typically have the highest rates in India.

This is what the jeweller charges for craftsmanship. It typically ranges from ₹300 to ₹1,500 per gram. Ask your jeweller and enter the exact figure.

Stone charges (optional)
If the jewellery has diamonds, rubies, or other stones, enter the total stone price here. Leave at 0 if there are no stones.

Wastage % (optional)
Some jewellers add a wastage fee (typically 2–8%) for gold lost during crafting. If your jeweller mentions it, add the percentage here. Otherwise leave at 0.

Key buying tips
Always check these before buying gold in India:

Ask for a BIS Hallmark certificate — mandatory by law since 2021
✓
Verify the HUID number (6-digit alphanumeric code on the jewellery)
✓
22K is more durable than 24K for daily-wear jewellery
✓
GST is always 3% on gold value + making charges
Remember: Higher karat = more pure gold = softer metal. 24K bends easily. For rings and bangles, always prefer 22K.
